Made to order in your choice of sustainably sourced British hardwood, this bespoke Shaker-style cabinet is a contemporary take on a classic form.

Pictured with silver birch tapered legs, slim door frames, striking spalted elm fronts and an elm surface, finished with brass knobs by Optimum Brasses. Pairs with The Thorne Chest of Drawers.

The Story

Designed as the second half of a matched alcove pair, alongside the Thorne Chest of Drawers, built for a fireplace alcove in a Victorian terrace and needing to hold spare crockery, this one called for shelves and dividers rather than drawers, its own character within the same considered pairing.

Behind the doors, the interior is built around what's actually going to live in it, sized for pans, serving dishes, or whatever else needs a home, rather than a single fixed layout that forces everything to fit around it.

The Shaker doors keep the front simple and minimal, in the same considered spirit as the Thorne Chest of Drawers, just expressed through panelled doors here rather than slab drawer fronts, this alcove cupboard stands equally well on its own in any room. Read the full case study →
