Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 26/09/2025

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all commissions and sales of furniture and related products (“Products”) supplied by Trew and Bold (“we”, “us”, “our”) to you, the customer (“you”). By commissioning or purchasing from us, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Information about us

Trew and Bold is a UK-based bespoke furniture design and making studio.
Email: info@trewandbold.com
Address: trew and bold, southleigh farm, birchwood lane, pensford, bs39 4nf.

2. Formation of contract

  • We do not currently sell Products through an online shop. All orders are placed by direct communication (usually email) and confirmed in writing.

  • A binding contract is formed once we confirm acceptance of your commission and you pay any required deposit.

3. Our Products – natural timber

  • Our furniture is handmade from solid, sustainably sourced timber. Wood is a natural material, and as such, variations in grain, figure, tone, knots, colour, and other natural features will occur. These are not defects, but inherent characteristics of the material, which we celebrate as part of the uniqueness of each piece.

  • Timber responds to its environment. Every care is taken to ensure wood is seasoned and at the correct moisture content before leaving our workshop, but some movement, expansion, or contraction may still occur as it acclimatises to your space. This is not considered a fault.

  • Accordingly, natural variations, including knots, grain, colour, and timber movement, do not constitute grounds for return, complaint, or refund.

  • If you would prefer a piece with fewer knots or a more uniform grain, this must be agreed at the point of order. The scope and cost of the commission may be adjusted to reflect this requirement.

4. Prices & payment

  • Quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.

  • A deposit of 50% is required at the time of commission to secure your order and begin design work.

  • A further 40% is payable midway through the making process.

  • The remaining 10% is payable on completion, before the Product leaves our workshop.

  • Work will not be released until full payment has cleared.

  • All prices are in GBP. VAT will be charged if applicable.

5. Liability

  • We are not liable for minor variations in timber, grain, or colour, or for natural movement of the wood after delivery.

  • We are not liable for loss or damage arising from misuse, improper care, neglect, or exposure to unsuitable environmental conditions (e.g. excessive heat, damp, or direct sunlight).

  • Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

6. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
