The Story

The Calder was designed for a specific, awkward space, a middle room in a Victorian terrace that could otherwise feel like a corridor, built to earn its keep as a kids' art table, a home workspace, and general somewhere-to-sit, all in a footprint too slim for full dining. The chamfered edge running around the top isn't purely decorative, it softens what would otherwise be a sharp line, kinder to shins and knocks in daily use, while the tapered legs stay visually light without losing strength.

Why Trew & Bold

Every piece at Trew & Bold is designed and made by Emily, from a workshop between Bristol and Bath, using timber sourced from British sawmills wherever possible. Nothing is mass-produced or flat-packed, every piece is built to order, shaped through a mix of machine accuracy and hand-finishing, and completed with natural oils rather than a synthetic lacquer, so the grain stays visible and the timber can breathe.
