The Story

The Aldan was born out of a longing for a luxuriously large, comfortable place to lounge in the sun, and frustration at how heavy large furniture usually is to move. After a long back-and-forth between the drawing board, the wood workshop and the upholstery workshop, with plenty of prototyping along the way, the design finally came together.

Unlike our made-to-order furniture, this generous one-of-a-kind armchair is ready for immediate delivery, a rare opportunity to bring home a complete, handcrafted piece today without the usual lead time. Made with a serpentine sprung base for lasting comfort, its deep cushion, filled with Qualofil® Blue and recycled eco-filling, offers the perfect amount of luxurious squish.

Because this exact combination won't be repeated once it's sold, choosing it means owning a specific, one-off version of the design, upholstered using traditional materials and methods by the talented Amy Wood, and wrapped in Brera Lino linen by Designers Guild in 'Brick'.

Why Trew & Bold

Every frame at Trew & Bold is designed and made by Emily, from her workshop between Bristol and Bath using sustainably sourced British timber wherever possible. Then finished with traditional upholstery methods by the talented Amy Wood, using natural and recycled fillings.

Designed so it can be dismantled into five manageable parts, it's a piece that blends timeless craftsmanship and everyday practicality, built to be repaired and re-covered for years to come, not replaced.
